Did you know that posts on your blogs can be recycled into articles, books, even multiple streams of income?  In this article, award-winning author and educator Phil Johncock shows you how to take content from your blog and recycle it into articles online.

7 Benefits of Recycling Content from Blogs

************************

  1. Posts on blogs are easy to write and short in length (around 250 words). Posts help organize your content.
  2. Consistent posting increases search engine optimization and your online presence.
  3. Posts can be organized into parts I, II, III, etc. to chunk larger themes into smaller bites.
  4. Practice does make perfect when it comes to writing.  The more your write, the better your writing gets.
  5. When you put tags (key words) with your posts, it assists people in finding your content faster.
  6. Posts put together in themes make great content for future E-Books, teleconferences, classes, presentations … there are no limits!  Organizing your thoughts into written form gives you a storehouse of your expertise that you can draw from in the future.
  7. Posts can also be submitted as articles to increase the number of internal links to your landing pages.  Once your article is published, add a link to your virtual resume (sites that brand your expertise, like SelfGrowth.com).

Blogs are great!  #6 and #7 point to the fact that you can share your content elsewhere, thus increasing the reach of your expertise.  Businesses and people are hungry for high quality content that helps them face immediate problems.

Recycling your content, then, is highly efficient.  It is wise to do something once, then reuse it again in other ways.

7 Top Ways to Get the Most of Your Articles

************************

  1. Use a catchy title like “How to …” or “7 Top Ways to …”
  2. Include bulleted lists and hyperlinks to make it easier for readers to find you and your expertise.
  3. Give permission at the end of the article to others to share your article … as long as they keep the bio, title and article intact.
  4. Write a short bio (About the Author) that touts your expertise and hotlinks to sites that brand you.
  5. Write a list of keywords (or tags) from your article, website, name and expertise.  Some websites don’t require it.  I found it to be a good practice.
  6. Give away something for free at the end.
  7. Make note of the title of the article you submitted in a Word document (like I do below).  If your article is not approved right away (which is the case with sites like SelfGrowth.com), then put a note in your calendar to check back in 7 days.  Then, note the URL to the article.  Place the URL as a link on your expert websites (click here to download instructions).
